Our Big Kitchen’s Bond Over Cooking Meals For People In Need
Our Big Kitchen (OBK) is a non-profit industrial kitchen that brings together people of all backgrounds to prepare nutritious meals for distribution to underserved communities across Sydney. In 2022 alone, OBK volunteers collaborated to make 120,000 meals, nourishing disadvantaged Australians.
Key Challenges Solved
From an SEO perspective, OBK needed to increase brand awareness and establish authority on topics related to soup kitchens and food kitchen volunteering in Sydney. The key challenges we addressed included:
- Content Creation: Developing supporting content as OBK lacked it entirely.
- Brand Awareness: Increasing visibility and making OBK an authority in their field.
- Technical SEO: Optimising page titles, internal linking, and addressing other technical aspects.

Our Strategy
To achieve OBK’s goals, we focused heavily on content creation and technical SEO optimisations. Our strategy included:
1. Content Development: Creating 13 targeted blog articles to support SEO efforts.
2. Technical Optimisation: Optimising existing page titles and improving internal linking structures.
3. SEO Enhancements: Conducting various technical improvements to enhance overall site performance and visibility.
We prioritised creating high-quality content that would resonate with OBK’s target audience, particularly corporates, and align with relevant search terms.
By optimising non-branded keywords and improving the site’s technical foundation, we aimed to boost OBK’s online presence and attract new users.
Business Impact
Our collaboration with OBK resulted in impressive statistics: Organic Clicks: +200% increase. Impressions: +78% increase. Keyword Rankings: +10 positions improvement for non-branded keywords.
Sitewide performance 3 months comparison YoY for non-branded keywords
In the last three months, the blog articles we created accounted for 70% of the non-branded clicks and approximately 64% of the non-branded impressions.
Additionally, OBK achieved first-position rankings for key terms like “soup kitchen Sydney” and “soup kitchen volunteer Sydney,” thanks to AI-created content edited by our team of content creators.
LESSONS LEARNED AND FUTURE PLANS
The content we created and published will continue to improve its impact on traffic and rankings. This case demonstrates that making progress on Google with SEO is possible even with limited budgets. With just 13 published articles and technical optimizations, OBK achieved significant success.
Our experience with OBK underscores the importance of strategic content creation and technical SEO, even within budget constraints. We believe the foundation we’ve built will sustain and drive continued growth in OBK’s online presence. OBK’s feedback on the project has been positive, further validating our approach.
